Hi, I’m Dale. I just received the plans for a Skerry Raid in the mail yesterday.
I’m in IT these days but as a child was very much into woodworking and was fortunate to have access to my grandfathers well stocked garage. Later I did an apprenticeship as an electrician and worked in mining and minerals processing. I’m very comfortable with hand and machine tools, as well as prototyping in a wide variety of technologies and materials.
Around 2002, I bought the Iain Oughtred Grey Seal plans from Duckworks and they have accompanied me ever since. I’m nearing retirement now and pulled the plans out considering building it. But after working through the plans and manual, I decided it might be better to start with something smaller and simpler as a practice run, and to reacquaint myself with the materials and tools. And so I have decided on the Skerry.
I’m looking forward to the build progress and learning from you all in the CLC community.
