Dory Daggerboard Box installation

 I've put together the NE Dory daggarboard box. It has at its base a piece of solid stock on each side of the base. The curve of the solid stock matches the curve of the box in the front. However the solid stock extends past the back of the box by 1/2 inch.

 

I'm not sure the instructions say to trim that off.

Do I?

I trimmed mine!

   I also had to trim mine, it looked like to me that the solid piece of stock wasn't CNC cut like the plywood pieces, so there was some expected variation. I used the plywood as a guide, and sanded everything down to size afterwards.
