Guider launched!

After 2.5 years of building, I launched my Guider on July 1. It was wonderful and more than a little stressful to put it all on the line and actually launch it. I chose a cloudy, cool day so there would be less traffic at the ramp. I have done dress rehearsals in my driveway, and I practiced trailer work in parking lots near me, but I am still a total newbie at launching. Amazingly, the trailer sank, and the boat floated. We raised sail and moved under the power of the wind. We retrieved the boat and made it back home. Nobody drowned. It was a totally successful launch!

Congratulations! She’s a beautiful Guider. Excellent work.

I’m putting the same sea dog hatches on my SW Dory. Can you talk a little about how the guiders hatches are mounted. It looks like the flange is recessed into the doubler.

I am not quite sure if it’s ok to post a screen capture of a section of the build document that shows how I did it. I guess someone will let me know. The major wrinkle is that they call for G-Flex epoxy to bond in the hatch flange. It seems to have worked just fine.
