# How Do You Determine Where To Put Oar Sleeves?

How do you decide where to position your oar sleeves on your oars? (FYI..I'm building the dory, with 3 oar socket positions and have two sets of oars)

I've seen several formulars for this but can't remember where. The easy way would be going for a row and put the sleaves where the looms show wear. This would best account for yout body type and rowing techneque.

Hi Curt,
we have built a Skerry and just attached the oar sleeves. The oar sleeves are made of leather and we ordered them with the kit. The oar leathers are 7x9". The instruction with it states: distance of oar locks divided by two plus 2 inches is the distance from the handle (inboard end) to the middle of the leather. Pls. talk to CLC if you need more information. We haven't put our Skerry into the water so far, so don't know if this suits our rowing.
