# NE Dory Thwarts

Looking ahead in the instructions regarding&nbsp;the thwarts in the NE Dory, it seems a little unclear when to epoxy and varnish the thwarts in relation to attaching the foam flotation under the thwarts.&nbsp; It would seem to me that the foam flotation should be epoxied to the underside of the thwarts after epoxying the thwarts but before varnishing.&nbsp; I'm curious what others did with regard to finishing the thwarts.&nbsp; Thanks!

&nbsp; &nbsp;Yes. That's what I did. You want the thwart completely enveloped in epoxy to keep out moisture. The foam can then be epoxied to the underside of the thwart. Varnish goes on last.
