Paint vs. varnish and temp/humidity

Does paint have the same temperature/humidity restrictions as varnish? I realize drying time is faster unless very humid. But does high humidity affect the paint finish like it can varnish? The MAS rep said that humidity above 85% can dull the gloss. I am having second thoughts on varnishing.

You could always varnish some scrap, see how it does.

True. I will still need the varnish for the deck.
