# Taper on Nymph outwale?

The Nymph instructions say that you can taper the outwales for weight reduction. What is a likely thickness to taper to? How far from the step would you start the taper?

&nbsp; &nbsp;The Skerry manual says (p.75):

Maesure about 28"from the bow end and make a mark. From this mark, taper the rails until they are about 3/4"tall at the end.

&nbsp;

The with the Skerry kit supplied rails are &nbsp;1"

Remember: the taper is at the underside of the rails.
