With a little building experience (Simmons Sea Skiff 18’) I am looking at a couple of kayaks next. My girlfriend and I love the water and exploring so this seems like a logical and fun adventure.
Edit: The Wood Duck builds were a good decision. Building from plans doubled the build time but we were able to add White Oak for sheers and rip our own strips. We have over 300 miles on them now and their primary use is tidal and headwater creeks. These boats will turn on a nickel! Another positive is the huge cockpit and lack of a forward bulkhead which allows the paddler to ‘lay down’ and go under many obstructions. We love them.
