I purchased the plans for building this drop-in rowing unit from Colin Angus, and adapted it for the Annapolis Wherry. The rigger is separate from the seat, but both can be removed/added with just a couple of wingnuts. I had to plane the bottom of the seat frame boards to match the angle of the bottom panels of the boat, and adjust some dimensions to make sure the rowing geometry was optimal for the A.W. It did add a number of additional hours to the build. I am not sure it is any lighter than the Piantedosi unit, but probably saved a few bucks. I did not find alot of others doing this on the forum, so thought I would post a photo. I have rowed it a few times now, and seems very solid.
