Creature comfort seat

I’m installing a creature comfort seat in my Wood Duck 12, and I’m not sure exactly how and where to place the attachment points for the seat support.
What do you use for the fixed end?
I did not get any hardware, and a screw eye seems too weak for lateral force.
I have the friction lock for the running end, but don’t know if it should be installed under the coaming (seems stronger and doesn’t interfere with entering/exiting the boat) or facing into the cockpit.
Also, is there a standard for how far forward to locate those points in the opening?

In mine I screwed a loop of webbing into the bottom of the coaming riser stack. Since also this went through the deck, there was a lot of wood to hold the screw in place. I used a loop of nylon cord to support the seat back. Each end of the cord loop was attached to the webbing loop.

The attachment was another loop of webbing going through a bronze snap and a cam buckle. The snap makes it quick to attach/detach the seat while the cam cleat lets me adjust the seat back. The bottom is held in place by 2 velcro strips. This lets me move the seat back and forth or even into another boat.

The first picture shows the installation in the Wood Duck. The others show the attachment details using another boat as an example. It’s more open and the details are more visible. The only difference is that the Wood Duck uses the screwed in webbing loops as anchors while the pirogue uses pad-eyes.

I’ve been happy with this setup for over 20 years (same seat). Let me know if you have questions.

I didn’t think about a webbing loop, but it seems strong and you’ve done a long term test, so I’ll use that on the fixed side.
I assume the cam cleat is also mounted under the coaming and out of the opening?

I had a typo in my previous post. I’d meant “cam buckle” (as in airline seat belts) instead of “cam cleat”. I did not use the cam cleat that came with the seat.

I used the same setup on each side - webbing loop through the back support line, cam buckle, snap and webbing loop screwed into bottom of the coaming.

Thanks. I like the solid attachment points, so I’ll do something similar.
