How difficult, or easy, is it to enter and exit a Mill Creek 16.5 from a dock? Is it possible to step into the center of the boat, then step into the bow seat? It seems like it might be more difficult to enter than a rowboat or canoe.
I cannot answer specifically for the Mill Creek so your mileage may vary…but I have ownned 3 kayaks. Two are the wide plastic fishing specific variety that are VERY stable on the water and you can stand up in them.
None of the kayaks I have had are easy to get in from a dock. I grew up with canoes and small aluminum boats and know how to get in via the center line from a dock…but all my kayaks have been best entered via the shore.
Typically I will put the kayak sideways to the shore line…go out to about 6 inches of water… and sit into the kayak sideways with my legs hanging over the side.. .then swing my legs into the kayak. I have tired other methods both from docks and shore and this is the best I have found.
I have tried the kayak launch docks wiht the rollers so you are completely on dry dock then roll into the water…that was easy and nice.
