fiberglass puzzle joints

when you first fiberglass the joints do you need a second and third cote of epoxy

No, just the initial tape and epoxy layer.  The joints will get covered with more glass and epoxy later in the build.

It would be good to sand/scrape them smooth now - just to get the bumps off if there are any - while the epoxy is still relatively fresh and you can work on them flat (prior to stitching).
