I will be building a mill creek 16.5 soon and have seen photos on the site of the boats with inspection ports in them. I'm seeking any advice on what size works well. My first thought would be to go as big as possible to make it easier to access the gear. I also do not want to compromise the bulkheads strength. Thanks for any suggestions or ideas.
My MC 16.5 is hanging up in the garage so I can't measure them today. As I recall, the aft one is 8" and the fwd lne is 10". Both about as big as will fit. No strength issues in 3 years. The one drawback is the forward one is very difficult to reach. You basically need to low crawl (ever been in teh army?) up under the foredeck to get to it.
