mast scarf doesn't match up

I'm building a Skerry from kit. I'm ready to glue up the scarfs for the mast and spars, but the mast scarf cuts are different lengths by about an inch. What's the best way to proceed? The options that come to mind 1) glue it up as shown in the picture with one end short, and 2) overlap the pieces so there's no gap. I envision for option 1 either letting the gap be part of the character of the mast, or filling and sanding. For option 2, I see removing the extra wood at the overlap. Option one keeps the mast a straight as possible (it came with a bow in it already, which seems unnecessary in an engineered piece). Option 2 seems like it would introduce a bend.    Thanks, Laszlo. I used the over-under method with a plane, where you offset the pieces by the length of the (longer) scarf joint. Using the longer scarf as a guide on top, I was able to lengthen the shorter scarf to match. I appreciate your suggestion to re-cut, which is what led me to try the planing method. Onwards...

Glad to have helped

That does not look right . It may be a manufacturing glitch. Have you called CLC yet?

That said, putting the pieces side-by-side and recutting the scarf so the angles match would be my preferred way to salvage those pieces of wood.
