Peapod: Positioning of Mast, Boom, and Yard Scarf Joints

I have a question about the positioning of the spar scarf joints for the Peapod lug rig.

Mast: Is it best to step the mast with the ends of the scarf joint facing fore and aft (angled sides facing port and starboard) or is it better to orient the angled sides such that they face fore and aft?

Boom and Yard: It is better to have the scarf joints positioned closer to the mast or out closer to the peak and clew of the sail. Thanks in advance. Rick

I am looking at my own boom and yard which are made from a CLC kit, and the scarfs are forward of and near to the mast. Not sure about how to orient the mast itself. I’m sure the joint is plenty strong in either orientation though.

Thanks, Aaron. I appreciate the information you have provided. Cheers.
