A pretty silly question but I am unclear whether the notch in the aft side of the aft seat goes under the center of the doubler or is supposed to fit snug around the doubler. In either case I am having a lot of trouble getting the seat to fit in place and level. Advice will be much appreciated.

Here are a couple of photos from our PMD build back in 2014 which may help. Mercy! Where did those 10 years go?
I don’t remember this being as hard to fit as was the forward seat, but it was a tricky business nonetheless. Now that I’ve refreshed my memory by looking at the photos, I think that notch in the middle of the stern seat was meant to just sorta kiss the bottom of the transom doubler. If you look closely (hopefully you’ll be able to enlarge these, that seems like where the tops of the cleats underneath were meant to position it…I think. I forget, do I have a memory? <;-)
Early on, here’s one showing the stern seat dry fitted before the bulkhead was in:
A little further on in the build, here’s another look at the piece dry fitted:
Here are the cleats to support the seat being glued in:
Finally much later, the stern seat all filleted in with jugs of water to keep it pressed down and a strut clamped to the daggerboard trunk to keep the top of the bulkhead straight:
This helps a lot. Thanks. Also having a hard time making sure the seat is level since the boat never seems level on the horses. Haven’t really gotten to the forward seat yet - I played around some and then bagged it while working on other parts.
