Positioning legs for Piantidosi on Chester Yawl

I attached the legs to the Rowing with the long side attached to the long side of the bottom bracket. It fit in the boat just fine and once bolted through the oar locks there was no play in the unit. I have not installed the wooden blocks yet. Question. How should the bottom brackets be orientated? Both in towards each other or both out away from each other; one forward and one aft? Since I have a snug fit with no apparent excessive strain on the oar locks, are the wooden blocks necessary?

   I live in a small town in central Massachusetts.  This afternoon I took my Skerry out for a sail on our local great pond, 316 acres in size.  When I returned to the launch area, a man came over and asked if it was "a CLC boat".  I acknowledged that it was, whereupon he volunteered that he builds rowing rigs for CLC.  It turned out to be Gary Piantedosi, just in from training for a race tomorrow.  It's a small world!!
