Tks for your reply, Pete. I'm not looking to strengthen the dacron fiber but to add abrasion resistance. In our waters unseen slightly submerged rocks can be encountered anytime. What I want from the epoxy layer is a little more protection than paint alone can provide. My major concern in this post, however, is how to prevent the epoxy from soaking thru the dacron cloth & adhering to the varnished & auto waxed hull underneath. I don't want the cloth bonded to the wood hull, since the skin of the canoe needs to independent of the natural wood movement underneath it.
I didn't quite understand all of that, but if you want a tough coating, consider epoxy and graphite after glassing the bottom ... as long as you don't mind black.
