Ripped Fiberglass question

I glassed the bottom of my kahalo and in trimming the edges after the epoxy set i ripped into the edge in two spots for a total of 3 inch by 1/4 inch. I think the cover is to flip and do the top now to get a 100 percent encapsulated seal. Then i can come back and finish the bottom. The other option is to do a small patch on the edge and continue with the bottom till finished. I prefer to do the top first but it admittedly gives a weak area of glass in those two areas. Can i assume my board is well covered if i flip and to the top overlapping the small deficient areas or should i patch it and hope it dont look like some gypsy jeans in the end? Tia

filpping to the top and overlapping, as you suggest in your note, will be just fine.

patches work fine too…and if done with a bit of care… are also 100% transparent (i.e., invisible).
