Hi, I'm building a Sassafrass 16 and just finished gluing together the scarf joints. Everything went well except one of the #4 Strakes. The joint seems to have slipped before drying and is 3/16ths of an inch misalligned (See photo). Is this going to be a problem later on in construction and if so is there anything I can do to fix it?
Thank you!

Kept the heat gun on low heat and after about 10 minutes it woked like a charm.
Thanks again,
Jack
I love a boatbuilding story with a happy ending. Thanks, Forum.
Yeah, I screwed up one of the plank scarfs on my Chester Yawl. After losing a lot of sleep, went to Harbor Freight and bought a heat gun for $8,
Keeping it on low heat, I moved the gun slowly back and forth until the joint separated.
I decided to re-do the job so I used the heat gun to soften old epoxy on the now separated planks, scraped old stuff off, sanded a bit and started over: this time I did it right! And the scarf is holding up under bending pressure.

Thanks guys!
I'm going to heat it up tomorrow and I'll let you know how things work out.

The answers are yes and yes. You can probably heat the joint with a heat gun and move it enough to make thengs right. SEEYA Jack
