Staining with Minwax Gel Stain

I am planning on staining my deck when I do my build.  I have researched stain here and on the internet.  I found this link from West Systems:

I think the CLC kits come with MAS epoxy not West.  

 Has anybody stained using Minwax Gel Stain?  

The directions state that after staining rub the stain with mineral spirits. Would this effect the epoxy?   

I have a piece of luan that I have used as a test panel and the stain takes well and looks good.

from what i know it should not make a difference after the gel has been wiped and dried it shouldn't make a diference

what i sugest is take the laun put a little epoxy on it to test and make sure

Stain, whatever type you are using should be completely dry before you apply any finish. a large amount of stains out there are oil base. I always wait a minimum of 2 days after staining before applying a finish. Also your enviroment has alot to do with drying times. the warmer the better.
