Tenderly verses PT11 - how do they compare as a tender for a 37 foot trawler

I have a tenderly that I built and love, but it is just too heavy for my wife and I to move around as our tender. I was thinking about building the pt11 since it is overall lighter and breaks into two so even lighter as halves. We have a big dog who cruises with us. We use an electric motor.

My question is about how stable the pt11 is compared with the tenderly. They have about the same beam. In the videos the pt11 looks like it rolls more like a canoe than I think our tenderly does. Is there someone who has experience with the two to give us your thoughts on if the pt11 is right for us.

Here’s a link to real life discussion of the PT 11 from a pretty experienced mariner.

Tally Ho’s remarkable new sailing dinghy

In my personal opinion and depending upon the size and temperament of your dog, CLC’s Eastport Pram is about the best all-round tender I know of. If it is too small, there is the 11’ 7" Passagemaker. Both kits come in nesting versions.

Hope it helps,
