New coat of varnish , excellent condition
For anyone reading this, 5 years ago I built a West River 18 from a kit that I had sitting in my basement for 11 years. It’s everything I hoped for. I built it to compete in the 2021 Bay Bridge Paddle and finished 3rd in my class in the 15K event.
The word on the street is that this is an old-fashioned design. You can hear the undertone of “obsolete”. Well, guess what? The laws of hydrodynamics have not changed. A long boat with a multi-chine hull to give it minimal wetted area is still a very fast boat. Now toss in the fact it has a comfortable cockpit (I recent did a 5-hour uninterrupted trip in the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge in my WR18 with a Creature Comfort seat) and it’s one hell of a design, whether for touring calm waters or open water racing through the Chesapeake “washing machine” waves.
I have no skin in this game, I don’t know Alan. I just want to let anyone looking at this boat to realize what an incredible design it is - fast, versatile and comfortable - and what a deal it is at this price.

PRICE DROP $300 The boats in Annapolis
Boy, oh boy… this looks like a great deal. You can’t buy a 12 ft. plastic tub for the same money. I’d buy it if I could use it. But my Chess 17 would complain and I already have 11 boats of one sort or another!
