I am doing a cedar srtip kayak and was planning to do a little woodburning prior to glass. Would appreciate helpful tips or pitfalls. Lot's of fun, don't want to mess it up now.
Coqtooth, Hickory, Thanks for the feedback guys. Nice arrow detail Hickory. Gonna give a try.
We did some woodburning writing and copied a stencil onto the cedar strips on our Shearwater hybrids using a burner pen. Parts were colored by using cheap kid's watercolors. We've had no problems at all with adhesion of the fiberglass in the burnt areas, and we're pleased with the results. A great way to customize your boat.
I did a bit of this. This photo shows a series of tiny arrowheads, over stain, under glass. My only hint is- get it right. an eraser won't help.
