As I near the launch of my Southwester Dory I thought it would be interesting to see if there are any other builders nearing completion, and/or builders who have launched recently.
Remaining to do includes shaping and finishing spars, all of the pre-finish prep and paint/varnish work, installing rudder and centerboard in their respective trunks, and rigging. Plenty of little odds and ends left as well, but I’ll save everything that isn’t necessary for launch until the winter. There will be a few bodies buried in this boat. Note the spare centerboard case near the workbench. The first attempt came out twisted and had to be rebuilt.
My SUT-500 arrived today, and thankfully it is in 5 boxes so I can find space to put them all in the garage until I am ready to assemble it.
I’ve stopped putting end dates on the project as I have blown past every one so far, but I should be able to launch before very end of the season.
