i’m building a night heron from scratch and after fairing the deck, some of my accent strips are siting lower than the rest of the boat. Should I cut out thin overlays for these spots, or can I fill these areas with thickened epoxy and sand it flush with the deck before glassing? will it add an unacceptable amount of weight? The accents are mahogany and i’m worried that overlaying the strips will be difficult to fair without screwing up the surrounding wood because of the difference in the wood’s density.
