Building a Chester Yawl and have it all stitched up including the middle two frames. I like that the ‘new’ version has stitching holes predrilled and the locatiing Mortises to align the bottom of the frames. Unfortunately, these new conditions create conflicts with the instructions in the Manual.
Looking ahead in the instruction manual, I see that the Frames are removed prior to glassing the interior (page 46 of the manual). Looking ahead, I see that the Frames are reinstalled on the next page but using Epoxy mix to hold them in place rather than wires. This makes sense as the wire holes are covered at this point. However, the Mortises are ALSO covered but there is no mention of what to do with the Tenons that are at the bottom of the Frames.
Presumably we should cut these off, but this also begs the question as to how and when the Mortises are filled. Can someone please advise me?
