Leftovers project

I was cleaning up and trying to figure out what to do with the leftover bits of cedar strips. I thought it would be a good challenge to make a small box out of them. Took a while and, look, I’m a builder not a craftsman, so don’t look too close.

It was good practice on getting good joints.

The handle is Ipe which is on the other end of the hardness scale.

Cool. What’s it a box for?

No idea.

We have an annual charity raffle at work where employees contribute crafts. I made this for it and I may make another small box made from steam bent sassafras.

It’s a good excuse to do something I haven’t done before.

The cedar strips strike me like Lego’s . There’s probably all kind of interesting things one can do with them.

I think you should take your box, punch a hole in it and add a fretboard and strings. Maybe even a folding fretboard so that the instrument is its own carrying case

I’m a long way from instruments! These small projects are a good break from the boat build though.
