Has anyone who has built a Northeast Dory ever added a stem to the interior bow? I am asking for my future build. I don't know if a stem would interfere with weight distribution or weaken the integrity of the build.
I believe thet George K. did that when he built the beta prototype.
If you use any normal kind of wood, i.e., not neutronium, there's no way that it'd mess up the weight and it'd only help the strength.

Laszlo's right, I put a stem in mine as I'm not a fan of big fillets. I used spruce to keep it light. I kept the front edge rounded so I could put a small fillet in the bow and imbed the stem in it. Looks great, plenty strong and probably weighs about the same as the large fillet.
