Maybe dumb question but is the 7 1/2 inch from bottom of boat to lower edge of spray rail measured from a level straight down (90 degree) OR measured flat against the boat side from bottom (at the angle of boat side)?
The difference is 1 inch.

I used the 90 degree down dimension. In the big scheme of things it probably does not matter much.
