Ross Millstone First Mate sailboat for sale, $3950

Ross Lillestone First Mate sailboat that I finished in 2023. It is in superb condition, but I find myself too old to enjoy sailing. The construction is fiberglass over 6mm Okoume plywood. The mast and boom are Sitka spruce and were both built using the “birds mouth” construction technique that yields a hollow, round tapered spar (which, by the way, is a super fun project in itself). The rudder, seats, and trim are Meranti mahogany. Shrouds and forestay are dyneema. Blocks are a combination of Harken and Racelite. Sails were designed and cut by Sailrite. The panels for the hull were cut on a CNC using DXF files provided by the designer (a thanks to Ross for trusting me with the DXF files).

The boat is located in Westport, MA. The asking price is $3950 which is far below the cost of the materials alone. My objective is to find a new owner that appreciates wooden boats and who will take care of this boat.

The price includes a trailer (Venture aluminum, new in 2023), a dolly for storing it inside, a full cover, a small trolling motor, and battery. I have been building wooden boats, canoes, and kayaks for almost 60 years as a hobby but am now trying to downsize my fleet to just a couple of kayaks.

Here is a link to a Small Boats Monthly article about this design. The First Mate and Phoenix III are sibling designs.

I want to thank the CLC Forum monitor for allowing me to post this ad even though the boat is not a CLC design.
