Skerry rails: Is trim Needed?

I have a Skerry, about 70% done. I have applied the inner set of rails. The application of the rails leaves the edge of the hull, plywood, exposed next to it. To me, this seems unsightly, and prone to water infiltration.. Has anyone who has one: found it - Not a problem; found trim to cover; Other??

Some of us not only don’t find it unsightly, we positively appreciate the way it looks. To me it always looks like inlay work, especially when the sun catches it at the right angle and the varnished edge sparkles as if it had gold flakes in it. I’ve had any number of people ask me how I pulled off that effect.

As far as water infiltration goes, as long as it’s properly epoxy-encapsulated and varnished, not a problem.

Have fun,
