Gettinng ready to build Wood Duck 12 kayak and want to get prepared. I want to build a glueing table for the panels and am thinking about ripping down a 4x8 piece of MDF board to 2x8 stiffening with a few 2x4s and place on some saw hoorses and am wondering if that would be long and wide enough to glue the panels?
I build a 4x8' work table that I put on saw horses when needed. It has worked well for me on 6 kayaks. Two foot width seems a bit narrow for me. I use the (garage) floor for glueing panels to length then supplement the table with a saw horse on each end when needed. Below are tow picts from my the build of my 18.5' Shearwater Double to give you an idea of what works for me.
I used a basic 2ft wide table. Make the ply a little proud of the framing so you can use clamps. The 4ft wide table is nice for some work if you have the room. I also made job buily saw horses so I could vary the height to a nice comfortable working height.
