I am working on my Wood Duck 10 and have put four coats of epoxy on deck to fill the weave. It has been over 24 hours since this was done. Do I need to sand the cockpick coaming area on the deck before applying the coaming since it has been over 24 hours? Should I sand the entire deck and then install the coaming? Please advise. Thank you very much.
Hi Diane,
I think you can wait up to 72 hrs if you’re using the epoxy fro CLC, however, it’s easy enough to just sand the area necessary for the coaming. There’s a fair amount of stress on those pieces, so a good bond is important. I clamped the individual layers rather than all at once. A bit more time consuming, but I found it much easier to work with. Enjoy the build!
