Beautiful Chester Yawl Wooden Row Boat
This Chester Yawl row boat, from the Chesapeake Light Craft company, located in Annapolis, Maryland, was built from one of their kits by the original owner. I am the second owner.
The boat is 15’ long, with a 42 inch beam and weighs in at 100lbs. The Chester Yawl is the right size for easy transporting. It is set up for single rowing with the drop in Piantedosi rowing unit. A 9’ 6” Sculling Dreher carbon oars with hatchet blades and full nonskid floorboards, are standard and included. The boat also comes with brand new Dreher oar grips. And a Custom Sun-DURA boat cover from Chesapeake Light craft. Plus, an assortment of other items shown in the photos below. The trailer is included. If you have never rowed before this is a great sculling boat to learn on. It also handles rough or open water easily. In fact, I have also towed the boat up to Sausalito and rowed out under the Golden Gate Bridge. If you have enough experience in that type of rough water, you will feel stable.
I row out of Marina Del Rey into the ocean weekly and up to Santa Monica all year long. It’s very comfortable for long hours of rowing. And stable enough that you can stand up and stretch! The boat hull has been freshened up with 2 coats of Interlux Precoat and 2 coats of Interlux Toplac gloss. The varnish has been touched up on the rails with Awlgrip Awlwood gloss.
