The piece of spruce I have for the daggerboard trunk spacers is slightly over 7/8". Plans call for 1". Unfinished board is a tad under 3/4". Will this work or should I head for the lumber yard?
Thanks, bear

7/8" is fine. I am noted for prescribing deliberately sloppy fits for daggerboards and masts. This is a result of enduring a number of jammed mast and daggerboard incidents over the years. Think about it---either scenario represents a collosal hassle when you get to shore.
So I usually indicate an 1/8th-inch of clearance on all sides. But really, 1/16th-inch all around is plenty of slop.
