Petrel Play - is the aft deck flat to the cockpit?

Building a strip Petrel Play. I’ve watched Nick’s videos till I can recite them in my sleep, but some details get skipped.

Form #9 drops way down and has small ‘hips’ at the sides. I have the aft deck strips tight against the top of form 10, but let them run straight over form 9. See the photo.

The strips run about an inch above the form. I’ve temporarily placed the loosely assembled cockpit surround to get an idea of how the strips run. I can bend the strips down to form 9, but they’d probably spring back up when I cut out the cockpit.

It looks like those little bumps (hips) on form 9 actually support the cockpit surround and done have strips on them

I’ve stripped the sides up far enough that I reach the cockpit on both sides. I’d like to just use separate strip from the bow after and stern forward now, versus full length strips on the sides, but don’t want to lose any critical shaping.

Thanks!

Hi, yes you are correct the strips run flat to the rear of the cockpit surround, they don’t extend to form #9. Here’s a photo with the cockpit surround in place showing form 9. So yes you can use separate strips for the forward and rear sections.

and here’s the final result.
