The manual for the Chesapeake 16lt refers “shear clamp radius” to the forward bevels as 16” and aft as 60”. Is this referring to degrees? I do have the planning guides but I just wanted to make sure I understand what I am suppose to be doing. The 60” aft angle guide has a shallower angle so I assume this means taking off more material?
the radius means that if you scribed a circle with a 16 inch radius (or a 32 inch diameter circle) you would find the arc equals the pattern they gave you for the front of the boat. the 60 inch would be a 60 inch radius or a 120 inch diameter circle would equal the pattern they gave you for the back of the boat.
you have to plane the shear clamps in the front to match the front pattern and the shear clamps aft of the cockpit should match the back pattern.

so yes, in the back you are going to take off more material…but it is not degrees. its just the radius of the circle that corresponds to the patterns they provided in the kit.
